Willy Sonnenberg
Sonnenberg is no stranger to the advertising arena and is often looked up to as a mentor within the industry. After a long and illustrious career, he retired as chairman of Lobedu Leo Burnett (ex Sonnenberg Murphy Leo Burnett) in 2000, and then despite having no financial interest or equity in the company, came back for a short stint and rescued it from hard times. Although Willie is an advertising veteran that remains slightly behind the scenes nowadays, he is still regarded as a sought after adman and one of the industry’s great leaders and visionaries.
“I know some of the directors of Cross Colours from when I was Chairman of Leo Burnett in SA. I always maintained my interest in the industry and this is an opportunity for me to be involved again, with people I admire,” comments Sonnenberg.
